Kristine McAndrew
Kristine McAndrew, age 79, of Erie, PA died on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Kristine was born in Ilion, NY, in 1945, but spent her formative years in Emporium, PA. She was the daughter of Douglas Monroe and Mary McIntyre Monroe. She graduated from Cameron County High School, where she was part of the prom court and her classmates said, "Wherever Kristine is, a party's sure to follow." Kristine attended Mercyhurst University, where she studied art. Oil paints were her favorite.
Kris met Barry McAndrew when she was a freshman at Mercyhurst. Their lives would cross again, later in life and they were married on July 13, 2019. Barry took great care of Kristine.
Kristine had three children who meant the world to her. Her children include Scott Camp, Chris Camp (Cheryl) and Meggan Camp, along with two stepsons, Brian and Marc. While she loved her kids, her grandchildren always brought the biggest smile to her face. Known as "Mimi", she was grandma to Evan K., Emma C., Evan C. and Connor L.
Kris loved her furry friends and had dogs throughout her life. Sebastian was her late in life dog companion and kept her in good company.
Throughout her life, Kris held a variety of jobs. While living in Syracuse, she worked at the North Syracuse Central School District, Crouse Hospital, Boorum & Pease and Gallagher Bassett Services. With her return to PA in the early 2000's, she worked for the PA Dept. of Health.
Everyone who knew Kristine, knew she loved creating greeting cards for her loved ones, reading, painting, crafts, cooking and entertaining.
Kristine was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Mark Monroe. She is survived by her husband, Barry McAndrew; her sister, Leslie Bailey; and her children and grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, January 17th, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 18th at 11 am at Christ the King Chapel at Mercyhurst University, 501 East 38th Street, Erie, PA, conducted by Rev.
