Marilyn Carroll

Marilyn R. Carroll, age 94, of Harborcreek, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025. She was born in Westford, PA on June 2, 1931, daughter of the late Wilbur Max and Bernice Greenawalt Hyde. Marilyn was a graduate of Pymatuning Joint High School and earned her B.S. Degree from Edinboro College, graduating as Salutatorian. She taught for the Iroquois School district for 32 years where she was an exceptional teacher, known for making learning exciting with creative experiences. She strove to include all students in her classroom through her example of love and respect. Marilyn was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international professional honor society for women educators and Outstanding Teacher of the year in 1965. Marilyn was a devoted Christian, living her life for the Lord, her loved ones, and others. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she participated in the UMW, was part of Wilma Bell's Drama Group, taught Sunday School and Bible School and served in Hospitality. Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Janice Sayers (David) and Nancy Carroll-Hunt (Brian); one grandson, Bryce Sayers; three siblings, Don Hyde (Marilyn), Carol Orton (Roy) and Jim Hyde (Stella); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Carroll; and brother, Max Hyde. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Marilyn's Life at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3308 South Street, on Saturday, August 23rd, at 11 am.
