With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kristopher Lee Roof. Kris suddenly and unexpectedly left this earthly realm on August 10, 2024.
Kris was a loving husband and father, a devoted son, a cherished friend, and a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew and loved him. With a wicked sense of humor and a flair for being dramatic, Kris was lively and entertaining, quick to make you laugh, and could brighten the darkest of days.
Born on May 31, 1984, Kris grew up in Eaton, Colorado, where he was known for his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and bright spirit. From countless adventures with friends to simple, quiet moments of understanding, Kris had a unique ability to make you feel special, like you really matter.
Kris' enthusiasm carried into every aspect of his life. His kindness and creativity have left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Kris had many passions – baseball (Go Yankees!), NASCAR (Go Team Penske! Blaney and Cindric), football (Go Broncos!), music (Korn, Amity, and an eclectic mix of music you would never imagine could be on the same playlist), movies (Batman, action and superhero movies were his favorites!), comedy, cars, cooking, travel, dogs – but the most important thing in his life was his family.
Kris married Mel on July 12, 2011, at a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. When their son, Julian, was born, Kris became incredibly focused on his duties as a new father. Julian was the light of his life, and Kris thrived in taking care of his son and teaching him about the world.
Kris is survived by his loving wife, Mel; his son, Julian; his parents, Kathy and Les Happel and Randy Domesla; his mother- and father-in-law, Chris and Joe; his brothers, Ryan, Max, and Alex; sisters, Lacy, Shelli, Melissa, and Jen; his Grammy Myrna; and multiple cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends close as family who will forever remember Kris for his warmth, humor, and the genuine love he shared. He joins his cousin, Patrick, Uncle Jimmy, Grandpa John, Grandpa Larry, and Grandma Gladys on the other side of the rainbow.
Kris' legacy will live on in his son, and in the many memories we all hold dear. A celebration of Kris' life will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 4:00 PM at 2601 Riverfront Drive, Loveland, Colorado.
As we say goodbye, we take solace in the belief that Kris' spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the love and friendship he gave so freely. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his impact on our lives will remain forever.
Rest in peace, dear friend. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Gone but never forgotten.
