MONTICELLO - Kurt Gatchell Marschik, 79, of Monticello died Saturday (Aug. 23, 2025) at Accolade Healthcare, Savoy.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow immediately after at 11:30 a.m. at Monticello Township Cemetery.
An artist and longtime auto-parts manager at several local car dealerships in the community, Mr. Marschik was born March 19, 1946, in Chicago, the son of Rudolph and Marguerite (Heeren) Marschik.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; sister, Jane Dighton (Tim) Smith; father, John T. Dighton; and mother, Marguerite (Peg) Dighton.
Mr. Marschik graduated from Monticello High School in 1964. He subsequently graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1973 with his BFA.
Mr. Marschik is survived by his children, son Chad Marschik of Springfield and sons Jeff Gray of Monticello and Ryan (Heather) Gray of Normal; grandchildren, Quinn (Hilary) Marschik of Carrollton, Texas, Riley (Emily) Marschik of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jack Gray and Elizabeth Gray, both of Normal; great-grandchildren, Henry and Keeley Marschik; sister, Melissa S. Dighton of Chrisman and Monticello; sister, Karen (Phil) Henebry of Cincinnati; brother-in-law, Tim Smith of Danville; sisters-in-law, Linda Mante of Monticello and Judy Waggoner of Melbourne, Fla.; nieces, Jessica Smith Diel of St. Louis and Bridget Henebry of Columbus, Ohio; nephews, Brian (Holly) Henebry and Patrick Henebry, both of Cincinnati; along with several other cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Animal Shelter. Condolences may be sent to the family at mackey-wrightfuneralhome.com.
