Kurt Edward Smith, 73, of Lathrop, California, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, surrounded by his children, family, and friends. Kurt was born on September 17, 1952, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, to Robert and Jeanette Smith. From an early age, Kurt demonstrated qualities that remained constant throughout his life: hard-working, a protective big brother, and devoted provider for his family.

He found his path and passion early in the Service Industry after graduating from the prestigious McDonald's Hamburger University in Chicago, Illinois. His dedication and high standards for quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction led to Kurt successfully owning numerous Baskin-Robbins franchises and a combination Baskin-Robbins-TOGOs franchise in the Bay Area.

Kurt is lovingly survived by his children, James and Amy Smith; Jennie and Brett Haskin; Nicole Smith; Amanda and Michael Brazeal; and Michael and Lauren Smith. He adored and cherished his grandchildren, Collin, Drew, Izzie, Jenna, Ethan, Jorja, Jackson, Mckenzie, Aiden, and Adilynn. He is also survived by his sister and brother, Cinda and John Smith, and his brothers-in-law, Roy Blackwell and Juan Costales. Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jeanette, and his siblings, Katherine Blackwell, Bobby Smith, and Barbara Costales.

He will be remembered for his commitment and acumen in business, his selfless generosity, his tireless love for family and friends, and his joyful laugh and warm smile.

Kurt's celebration of life will be held on February 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the home of his children, Jennie and Brett Haskin, in Escalon, California.
