Kyle Evan Trew went home to be with Jesus on the morning of Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 39. Born on October 18, 1985, Kyle had the biggest heart and the most dry wit-both of which he shared generously with those lucky enough to know him. He attended the University of Tennessee and passionately followed Tennessee football-with a fiery conviction.
He is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Tina Trew, and his brother, Colton Trew. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Irma Trew; his aunts and uncles, Pam (Steve) Turley and Sheila (Jeff) Rayburn; and his cousins, Brian Askew, Jeffrey Rayburn, and Alex Rayburn. In addition, Kyle leaves behind extended family and close friends who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William "Bud" and Lola Burr, and his paternal grandfather, John Trew. Kyle was impossible to summarize. He was brilliant, hilarious, loyal, opinionated, stubborn, and unapologetically himself-and that's what left a mark on everyone he met. He could do a deep dive into life's biggest mysteries-and five minutes later be defending the greatness of some obscure band no one else had heard of. His musical taste was... let's just say challenging at times, but if you asked him, it wasn't his music-it was our opinion that was wrong.
He wasn't always easy, but he was always real. He questioned everything. He loved deeply. And in a world full of filters, Kyle was the real thing, good or bad. Kyle's struggle with addiction was a long road-one that brought him to both heartbreaking lows and moments of real healing. He fought hard, with more quiet strength than many ever saw. Addiction did not define him, but it was a big part of his story. It ultimately contributed to his passing. What defined him was his fierce love for others and the way he kept showing up-even when it was difficult. That's how we choose to remember him.
A celebration of Kyle's life will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, in the Student Ministry Building at Silverdale Baptist Church. From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, family and friends will have the opportunity to visit and remember Kyle, with the funeral immediately following.
Burial will be private.

Honorary Pallbearers Serving as honorary pallbearers are his cousins, Brian Askew, Jeffrey Rayburn, and Alex Rayburn; his best friend, Blake Vandercammen; and his college roommates, Josh Kile and Robert McCormick.
In lieu of flowers, our family asks that memorial contributions be made to Silverdale Baptist Church Care and Counseling Ministries-an organization close to our hearts that supports individuals and families impacted by addiction.
Though our time with Kyle was far too short, we take comfort in knowing he is safely in heaven-and that he is healed, happy, and whole.
