L.D. McCarty, 93, of Wynnewood, OK, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026.

Born on February 17, 1932, in Pauls Valley, OK to Granville and Neva (Hicks) McCarty. A

proud veteran, L.D. was a member of the National Guard.

L.D. met Betty Elliott while attending high school in Paoli, OK and later married in Gainesville,

TX on January 13, 1951.

L.D. was a very loved and well-known mechanic around Wynnewood. He owned several

businesses that included two gas stations, a family recreation center and Riverside Auto

Salvage. He was also an outstanding fastpitch softball player and a self-taught pitcher for his

team, earning several trophies and awards during his time on the field. He was known to

always carry his glove everywhere he went, just in case there may be a team who needs an

extra player for a game or two.

L.D. was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed cars, playing softball and basketball,

fishing, golfing, gathering pecans in the winter and spending quality time with his children and

grandchildren.

L.D. was preceded in death by his parents Granville McCarty and Neva Wigley; brothers –

Billy Don McCarty, Wayne (Bert) McCarty, and Jerry McCarty; grandsons – Brandon Moody,

Paul Moody and Brian Loftin.

L.D. is survived by his wife, Betty McCarty and his three children – Donald McCarty and wife

Janet of Ada, OK, Ronnie McCarty and wife Glynis of Wynnewood, OK and Gloria Loftin and

husband Charles of Wagoner, OK. Eight grandchildren – Salina Good, Ryan McCarty and

wife Kasie, Leighton McCarty, Kristi and husband Jay Mitchell, Shelby and husband Tyler

Tadlock, Lucas McCarty and wife Sarah, Christy Loftin, Aaron Loftin and wife Holly, as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Wynnewood, OK, with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28th from 4-6P.M. at DeArman's. Please send online condolences to demarmanfuneralhome.com.
