She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy, and her husband, William.
Lai will be remembered by her sons: Yiu (Celeste) and Angel (Valerie); granddaughter, Jenny (Dennis) Aspillaga: and grandson, Jeff (Alicia) Chang; great grandchildren Jayden, Bella, Noella, Lily and Ellie Aspillaga; and Kaleb and Landyn Chang, extended family, and dear friends.
Lai was raised in China and moved to several countries before settling in the U.S. to start a new, exciting life with her late husband. Lai loved gardening, cooking (especially for her great-grandchildren), playing video mahjong, and caring for her family. She provided her family, especially her children, amazing opportunities in life that she and her late husband never had themselves. Lai taught her children the importance of education, value of hard work, being dedicated, and always showing empathy towards others. Her beautiful, genuine smile will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at the Beck Funeral Home in Austin, Texas from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, on May 27, 2023 (Saturday) at 15709 Ranch Road 620, Austin, TX 78717.
The family would also like to extend our gratitude to Lai's friends, especially the parishioners at the Austin Chinese Church where she enjoyed close fellowship and camaraderie.
In celebration of Lai living a full life of 85 years, feel free to dress in light colors in lieu of black during the visitation.
