"Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another." Hemingway Lamar F. Suddeth, 82, a man who never let his schooling interfere with his education, passed away Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, in Cumming, GA. No doubt, dreaming of operating a dozer-his favorite piece of equipment and a symbol of his unwavering drive to move forward. A native son of Butler, GA, his genesis was on a Sunday, naturally the day for planning the work week and if you knew him, you probably got a call or three on a Sunday. Moving to Cumming in 1972, as a grading foreman who completed the first section of GA 400. He found a place to build a life and in 1976 started his own grading company. His dedication to his trade and love of just being on and around heavy equipment, allowed him to blossom his career into a brand synonymous with getting the job done. He was well loved in the construction industry. His dedication for always doing favors and using his bounty to give others an opportunity to benefit themselves are legendary. He was not known for overthinking anything. Adept at taking a complex overwhelming task, breaking it into small manageable tasks, and then just starting on the first one. It was a great joy of his to be known for being a great friend to the City of Cumming, he was known for going above and beyond and even getting a job done so quickly, you may not have even asked him to do it yet. He was involved in politics in the 90's, serving as a Forsyth County Commissioner from 1995-1998.
Survivors include daughter, Kim Suddeth; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Steve Lively; grandson, Shane Lively (Mallory); great-grandsons Connor and Beau Lively; sister, Glenda Carpenter (Don); sister, Geraldine Brannen; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by his father Charlie F. Suddeth; his mother, Ida Mae Harper Suddeth; brothers, James Suddeth, Troy Suddeth, Willie Frank Suddeth, Robert Suddeth and sister Ophelia Byrd. McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Ga will be handling the arrangements.
Visitation - Tuesday December 16, 2025, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Service - Tuesday December 16, 2025, 1:00 pm inside the chapel of the funeral home Pastor Tim Hubbard will lead the memorial service at 1:00 pm. Ford Gravitt and Steve West will give a eulogy in his honor.
