Lambert Lee Schlyer

Lambert Lee "Bert" Schlyer – age 48, of Hays, Kansas passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at his home. He was born December 10, 1974, in Russell, Kansas to Gary L Schlyer and Linda Kay Rohr.
He was a Fed Ex Express route driver for 20 years, and has worked at Commercial Builders for 23 years. Bert grew up in Victoria and was a 1993 Graduate of Victoria High School. He also attended Hutchinson Junior College and received a degree in construction. He was a member of the Hays VFW Auxiliary and volunteered a lot of time on stags and community breakfasts. He enjoyed fishing, Royals, Chiefs, and his garage was always open to his friends for a game of cards and spirits.
Bert's survivors include his daughter, Scarlett Harmon, Hill City, KS; his father, Gary Schlyer and his wife, Karen, Wichita, KS; his mother, Linda Height and her husband, James, Hays, KS; his sisters, Lisa Dudenhoffer and her husband, Dan, St. Louis, MO; Lori Brungardt and her husband, Glenn, Lawrence, KS; his niece, Mckenzie Carlgren and her husband, Dawson; his nephew, Lane Brungardt; his god-mother, Lavera Peacock, NV; a number of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill Schlyer and Mary (VonFeldt) Hammerschmidt and her husband, Ray; Clarence and Katie (Gerhardt) Rohr.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Cline's-Keithley Mortuary of Hays with Father Nick Parker officiating. A private family inurnment will be held later at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, at Cline's-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials made payable to: Hays V.F.W. Post No. 9076 in care of Cline's-Keithley Mortuary, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
