Obituary of Lanny Dixon, Sr.
Lanny Dixon, Sr., 71, of Walton, KY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Coldspring Transitional Care Center. The son of the late Sherman Louis Dixon and Regina {Kiffmeyer} Dixon, Lanny was born in Covington, KY on June 4, 1953. Lanny graduated from Walton-Verona High School and later went on to meet the love of his life, Darlene {Hocker}, while attending Sherman Full Gospel Church in 1970 and married soon after on June 16, 1972.
In his younger years, Lanny enjoyed his time as the pastor at Glencoe Full Gospel Church where he shared his extensive knowledge and enormous love for God and the Bible. Holding God close to his heart over the years, Lanny and Darlene were welcomed into Community Family Church in Taylor Mill where they have spent the last 12 years as members. An outdoorsman, Lanny loved to go camping, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling. He was an avid UK fan and would catch the game whenever it was broadcasted. Most importantly, he was devoted to his family and cherished the time spent with his beloved grandchildren.
Lanny will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Dixon; sons Lanny (Pam) Dixon, Jr. and Jamie (Amber) Dixon; siblings Sandy (George) Bonar, Rita Dixon, Beverly Stanton, Cull (Dena) Dixon, and Steve (Donna) Dixon; grandchildren Jack Robinson, Blake Dixon, Avery Dixon, Eva Dixon, Carter Dixon, Bentley Adams, and Colton Adams; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives whom he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 1 PM with the funeral service to immediately follow at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 18 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. Lanny will be laid to rest at New Bethel Cemetery in Verona after his funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Community Family Church by clicking here.
