It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Laralei Thomas, beloved wife and friend on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Born on May 6, 1952, in Mena, Arkansas, she was one of two children born to the late Kerwin and Jo Ann Rackley Ashford.
Lara was a proud graduate of Greenville Technical College with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, paving the way for a successful and fulfilling career in a field she was truly passionate about. As an engineer, she inspired many through her knowledge, work ethic, and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred Thomas, who has been her steadfast support and partner throughout life's journey; her beloved dogs; and numerous friends. Laralei will be remembered for her kindness and generosity to others and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Lara was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Ashford.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Laralei will be laid to rest in Graceland East Memorial Park following the service.
