On Friday, November 29, 2024, Larry Lee Bartgis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 75. Born on March 25, 1949, Larry was the son of Doyle Dwayne Bartgis and Edith Elaine (Hawkins) Bartgis, both of whom have preceded him in death. Larry is also predeceased by his brother, Doyle Dwayne Bartgis Jr., and his sister, Elaine Bartgis.
He leaves three children to cherish his memory – daughter Trisha Fizer, and sons Larry Dwayne Bartgis, and Dustin Levi Bartgis, along with his first wife and caregiver in the end, Patricia A. Bartgis.
Larry was a proud Veteran who served in the Army from 1969-1972, fighting in both Korea and Vietnam. His varied and rewarding career led him down many paths throughout the years. He was a truck driver for TRC Petroleum Equipment, worked as a Foreman at Rainbow Bakeries, held a longtime gig at the Oklahoma Publishing Company, and was a well-respected Machinist at Tinker Air Force Base for many years. Those that worked under him always said he was very easy to get along with and even easier to work for.
Described as "proud yet stubborn", while he mostly kept to himself, Larry was very close to his family. He especially looked forward to regular "man talks" with his dad and brother on Sundays, and of course, spending time with his best friend and lifelong confidante, Patricia. As we say goodbye to Larry Lee Bartgis, let us honor him for his service to this country, for his strength in the face of adversity, and for his wide array of accomplishments during his time on this earth. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
