Funeral Service for Larry Bassham, age 81, of Overton, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home, Sulphur Springs, TX with Pastor Roger Bynog, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Bassham, Jr., Brett Bassham, James Bassham, Jr., Barry Bassham, Ricky Williams, Joey Williams, Bryan Williams, Mark Bassham, and Tony Williams. Mr. Bassham passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX.
Larry Gene Bassham was born in Sulphur Bluff, TX on June 22, 1942 to Clarence and Jewel (Tanton) Bassham. He married Georgia Oliver (Denmon) Bassham in Arp, TX on January 24, 1987. Larry worked as a Machinist for Rockwell International, Bell Helicopter and several other specialty companies. He was a professed Christian and adherent to the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Pamela Lopez and husband Jose; step-sons, Billy Oliver and wife Lana and Lonnie Oliver; grandchildren, Derrick Lee Knight, Tamra Nicole Curry, Crystal, Jaclyn, Tamara, Misty, Josh, Brandon, Jake, Tosha, Santos, Gina, Bubba, Stormy and Scout; sister, Jannette Bassham Williams; brother, Jerry Bassham; sister-in-law, Debra Bassham; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; daughter, Vicki Annett Bassham; step-daughter, Sharon Lyn Tiner; brothers, Bill Bassham, Jimmy Bassham, James (Pete) Bassham; brother-in-law, C.R. Williams; sisters-in-law, Lou Bassham, Delores Bassham, Shirley Bassham; and niece, Sandy Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sulphur Bluff Cemetery Association.
