Mr. Larry Boyd Baxter, age 76, of the Clay Hill Community in Marshall County, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Lewisburg, TN. Larry was born in Lewisburg, TN, to the late Jessie Boyd Baxter and Ruth Elizabeth Ramsey Baxter. He was a Veteran of the TN National Guard and retired as a Captain for the Lewisburg Fire Department with 40 years of service. Mr. Baxter attended the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the Marshall County High School Class of 1967. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Baxter and infant Buford Lee Baxter.
Mr. Larry loved to go jogging and ran numerous 5K races. He enjoyed joking, spending time with friends, and he never met a stranger. Larry was always looking forward to his next meal and asking what it would be. He took great pride in his vehicles and keeping them spotless. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them and supporting them with their activities and athletic teams.
Mr. Baxter is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Hayes Baxter of the Clay Hill Community; children, Jamie (Katherine) Baxter of Chapel Hill, TN, Sabrina (Steven) Thomas of Murfreesboro, TN, Joseph (Janet) Baxter of the Clay Hill Community; 7 grandchildren, Tyler & Aaron Baxter, Hadley, Parker, & Jack Thomas, Hayes & Marley Baxter; several nieces.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, September 14 2025 from 4 PM – 8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 AM on Monday, September 15, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hopper Cemetery near Chapel Hill, TN.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will the Lewisburg Fire Department, both past and present employees.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in memory of Captain Larry Baxter to the TN Fallen Firefighters Memorial Fund, 2161 Unionville-Deason Rd., Bell Buckle, TN 37020.
