Larry Allen Clarke, 65, husband of Renita Brewer Clarke, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 17, 1959 to the late Luvard "Lu" Albert and Sarah Isabelle Henderson Clarke. Larry retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He also served faithfully as a deacon, an elder and an ordained minister in various congregations around Central Kentucky. He was an alumni of Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky State University and Louisville Bible College.
In addition to his cherished wife of 39 years, he is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sarah Jones (David) and Elizabeth Clarke; his brothers, Lynn Clarke (Mandy) and Lee Clarke (Joy); his precious grandchildren, Isabelle, Dalton, Ethan, and Acie Jones; and a number of dear family members and close friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Larry found deep joy and purpose in studying the Bible and sharing its teachings with others. Whether leading a class at church or speaking around a campfire under the stars, he poured his heart into helping others understand God's word. Teaching wasn't just something he did - it reflected his faith, his compassion, and his desire to guide others on their spiritual journey. His wisdom and sincere love for scripture left a lasting impact on all who had the opportunity to witness his faith.
Funeral service will be Monday, July 14, 2025 at 1:00pm at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Rd, Frankfort KY with Mike Napier and Harry Hebert officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Tom Owens, Lee Wise, Thomas Williams, Matthew Woodyard, Jacob Cox, Adam Sayre, and Steve Rucker will honorably serve as casketbearers. My sincere condolences to Renita, Sarah, Elizabeth, and all the family. Larry was a wonderful servant of God, a very smart man with a heart of gold. I worked with Larry at Dept. Military Affairs, and later enjoyed seeing him in other agencies, usually at his annual presentations on the Statewide Accounting System, EMARS.

Larry was prudent and wise: I´ve never heard an unkind word from him and he exercised great restraint and self control often dealing with important financial matters. However, at Military Affairs we could tell when he was upset with his fair skin and hair - yet he didn´t speak in anger. I always was so happy to see him, he truly was an honorable, good man and a friend I could trust.

His strong unwavering faith in God and love of his family was evident in whatever he did, every day. Remember, this is not the end: the best is yet to come.

My sincere condolences to Renita, Sarah, Elizabeth and all his family. I worked with Larry at Military Affairs. He was always kind and easy to speak with, a very understanding and intelligent man! Larry was so smart, and whenever I saw him I'd joke and say, "You're the Daddy of eMARS," because he was an expert in the Statewide Accounting System. He would humbly put his head down and then change the subject, because he didn't need acclamation, he was happy in his strong Faith. I will miss Larry and wish I had kept in touch. Remember, this is not the end; we will see him again where there are no more tears or pain. The best is yet to come.
