Larry Dean Coate

Larry "Dean" Coate passed peacefully in his sleep on September 13, 2023. He was born in Lima, Ohio on September 28, 1948, to Darrel Dean Coate and Norma Jean Coate. Larry was a 1966 graduate from WHS. A graduate of Case University (now Case Western Reserve) in Cleveland, Ohio, Dean became the father of Daniel Coate and Matthew Coate in 1977 and moved to San Fransisco in 1980, where he resided for the rest of his life. Dean worked as an IT Business Analyst for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and served as the President of the Local Chapter 21 of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFTPE) local 21 from 2009-2017. Because of this service, and Dean's service as a national officer on the IFPTE Executive Council starting in 2012 and his membership of the U.S. Labor Delegation to the Republic of China (Taiwan) in 2017, Dean was officially recognized and honored by the IFTPE at their national meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 2018.

Dean is survived by sons Daniel and Matthew, both of Cleveland, Ohio; sister Pat (Jeff) Brown of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and sister Sarah (Joe) Peyton of Colombus, Ohio.
