Larry Dukek Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 7, 2025.
Larry Allen Dukek, a man who lived life on his own terms and always knew what he wanted, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 5, 2025. He married the love of his life, Kathy (Pose) Dukek, when they were young-and never looked back. Together they built a life rooted in love and loyalty. They bought their first house in Taylors Falls where they raised their three children-Cindy, Julie, and Larry-and lived in many towns over the years (Motley, Walnut Grove, Jeffers, and eventually Burnsville). He was a man of few words-but when he spoke, you listened. He had a quiet strength, a steady presence, and a deep sense of knowing. Sports and competition were in his blood. Whether it was drag racing, hockey, football, softball, bowling, golf, or snowmobiling-he didn't just play, he played to win. And he was good. Really good. He brought that same energy into raising his family-cheering from the sidelines, coaching our teams, and making even the backyard a place of excitement, with games he invented and a sled run he built just for fun. Sunday morning wrestling matches were a tradition. He could be stubborn. In his house, his word was law. But beneath that firm exterior was a soft heart and a generous spirit. He showed up-for every game, every milestone, every moment that mattered. And while he wasn't always outwardly mushy, we always knew how deeply he cared. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy, his children Cindy Miller, Julie (Noe) Arteaga, and Larry (Mollie) Dukek, his brother Richard Dukek, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren-each of whom carries a spark of his energy, humor, and grit. His legacy lives on in every game played and every stubborn-yet-loving moment remembered. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 18th at 11am, North Heights Church, 2701 Rice Street, Roseville, MN 55113, with a visitation for one hour prior. A luncheon will be provided after the service.
