Larry James Ecklor was born September 18, 1943. He was the seventh of eleven children born to Edward and Elise (Cornelius) Ecklor. He attended school in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Larry began working for Ken's Transmission in the 1960's. After a few years, he began working for the City of Marshalltown during the day and Ken's in the evenings for a few hours. He raised four children, Larry Jr., Dion, Shawn and Shane. In 1968, he began working for Swift (now JBS), where he worked under the many name changes over the years holding many positions over the course of his 38-year career. In his free time, Larry enjoyed going fishing, taking his morning drives to have his coffee and to check on the river and was notorious for his gravel traveling. He would be able to find anything using gravel roads and just enjoyed exploring as much as he could.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Dion (Michelle) Ecklor, Shawn (Shelly) Ecklor and Shane (Christine) Ecklor; his grandchildren, Josh, Lakan, Karsen, Ann, Chad, Madelyn and RJ; great-granddaughter, Lily; Jaxson; and siblings, Bonnie (Dave) Wargo and Rose Mitchell alongside numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his son, Larry Ecklor Jr.; his parents, Edward and Elsie Ecklor; and eight siblings.
