Larry Edward Fitzpatrick

Larry Edward Fitzpatrick, age 88, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away on March 2, 2026, at the Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, with family close by. He was born on December 26, 1937, in Dearborn, Michigan, one of six children of Frank and Alice (O'Dwyer) Fitzpatrick.

Larry graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he spent several years working aboard Great Lakes freighters. Later, he returned to Dearborn and dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Dearborn.

In 1973, Larry married Beryl Bennett. Upon his retirement, the couple relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, where Larry found joy in observing and learning about the freighters navigating the Soo Locks. He generously volunteered his time and donated books to the Valley Camp Maritime Museum. Larry also enjoyed playing golf until recent years. Larry is remembered for his humor, kindness, and willingness to assist friends whenever needed. Larry is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as several close friends who provided great care and companionship during his health challenges

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl; parents, Frank and Alice; and brothers and sisters.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Ball Hospice House and Hospice of the Eastern Upper Peninsula for their compassionate care.

A memorial for Larry will be planned at a future date.
