With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry L. Flaugher, age 88, of Piqua, Ohio, who passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Miami Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on March 11, 1937, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Larry was the beloved son of Frank and Bertha Flaugher. He grew up in Portsmouth and attended McDermott High School. Larry went on to work at Crane Pumps in Piqua and Aerovent Fan in Piqua, where he dedicated 30 years of his life. He was deeply committed to his work, his family, his faith, and his lifelong love of old cars. Larry was also a proud member of The Valley Church in Piqua.
Larry "Papa" will be remembered as a kind, quiet, and gentle soul with an incredible gift for encouragement-always ready with a warm word and a helping hand. He enjoyed fishing, building cars, and had an unmatched talent for fixing just about anything. His steady presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him, and his light shone wherever he went. He is survived by his two children, Joe Flaugher and John Flaugher, and his wife, Karen Flaugher. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Natasha Flaugher, Sierra Flaugher, Kendra Phillips and her husband, Chris Phillips, John "Johnny" Flaugher and his wife, Taylor Flaugher, and Jackson Flaugher and his wife, Alexandria "Lexi" Flaugher. Larry was a proud great-grandfather to Ashton Flaugher, Skylar Parrish, Ella Phillips, Anna Phillips, Evan Phillips, and Cameron Phillips. Larry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce Frasher Flaugher, and his three brothers: Dan Flaugher, Don Flaugher, and Dave Flaugher.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th, at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Dayton or The Valley Church in Piqua, in honor of Larry's generous spirit and lasting legacy.
Larry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
