Larry Fleck of East Peoria, IL was part of generations of Peorians going back to the 1840’s. His ancestors were farmers, bakers, and brewers (his mom’s Aunt Emma's, Leisy Brewery). His mother was a housewife and former journalist, his dad was an engineer at Caterpillar. Larry graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, IL and served in the US Navy from 1964 to1968 and afterwards went into inactive duty in 1968-1971.
He was married to Gail Peterson of Pekin, IL in 1970. Their son Jason lives in Dermott, Arkansas. Larry was married to Marilyn Garren from East Peoria until her passing in 1987. He then married Nancy Wikoff in 1988 and became stepfather to her two sons, Nick and Matt. Larry lived with Nancy at their home in East Peoria until illness required that he move to a nursing home in June of 2025.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Myers of Northbrook, IL, his brother Jack Fleck, of Oakland, CA, his wife, Nancy, his son, Jason, stepsons, Nick and Matt and Matt’s wife, Carilla, and their two sons, Keyan and Callen.
Larry was gregarious and loved talking to people. He was a great fit for his job selling appliances in Peoria, IL for several years. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and fortunately lived long enough to see them finally win the World Series in 2016.
