Mr. Larry Julian Gilbert, age 72, was born on January 10, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Junior Gilbert and the late Oree(Marie) Gilbert. He gained his wings to fly to his eternal home beyond the sky on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Larry was a man of few words, but he was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Bessie Gilbert, and 3 sisters, Flora Spencer, Ossie Mae Horton, and Juanita Green.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Bernice Gilbert, sons, Larry Gilbert, Derrick Gilbert, and Donnell Gilbert, daughter, Marie Gilbert, step-daughter, Neia Thomas, brother, Robert Horton, 2 sisters, Alice Morris and Mary Cooper, 12 grandchildren, Montrell Herrington, Derrick Gilbert, Madison Newsome, McKinnzey Newsome, Preston Newsome, Larry Kennedy, Kia Kennedy, De’AndreForeman, De’Ondra Foreman, De’Shaun Foreman, Raven Dean, DeAndre Thomas, and Tranice Thomas, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends for a public viewing on Wednesday, September 03, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at C. A. Reid Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 04, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at C. A. Reid Funeral Home with Bishop Milton Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Walker Memorial Park.
