Larry Eugene Grantz, 83, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025.
Larry was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to Joseph and Pearl Grantz. He lived in Valley Falls, Winchester, Oskaloosa, McLouth, and Tonganoxie, KS growing up with his 7 siblings. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Estes Grantz, his son Larry E Grantz, Jr, his daughters Darlene Grantz Havner, and Marlene Grantz; he is survived by his ex-wife, Betty Grantz of Nashville, Arkansas, 3 stepchildren, several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Larry was known for his wide range of talents and passions. He worked as a tree trimmer, rodeo roper, dairy farm hand and most notably, a truck driver. His love of music and playing guitar brought joy to him and his siblings. He married the love his life Hazel Virginia Estes on March 23, 1963 at St. Martin Luther’s Church in Piper, Ks and the two of them had 3 children Larry affectionately, known as little Larry as a child and twin daughters Darlene and Marlene.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Betty Grantz Young, Ruby Grantz Blackburn, Vernon Grantz, Earl Grantz, Dorothy Grantz, Helen Grantz Estes, and Beverly Grantz, as well as a step-daughter, Marie Cogburn. His deep love for his family was evident throughout his life. Larry was always there for someone in need if he could help.
Larry’s life was one of adventure, service, and devotion, with a deep love of God. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Aly Cemetery in Aly, Yell County, Arkansas, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro.
