Larry Thomas Holak

Larry Thomas Holak, of Auburn, and formerly of Bowie, MD, Palm Bay, FL, and Amesbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.
Larry leaves his beloved wife, Margaret E. (Dunn) Holak; his son, Jason Holak and wife Shannon, of FL; his daughter, Sherri Batt and husband Greg, of FL; his step-daughters, Natalie Luongo and husband Patrick Sawyer, of CA, Noelle Kenney and husband Brian, of MA, and Melissa Mazzola and husband Joseph, of FL; along with eight grandchildren; his siblings, Walter Holak and wife Linda, Elaine Puorrro and husband Lance, Cynthia Kozacka and husband Fred, and Kimberly Bamford and husband Bill, all of New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. Larry also leaves his beloved dog, Libby, who has been his constant companion for thirteen years.
He was born, raised, and educated in Amesbury, son of the late Joseph and Gilberte (St. Germain) Holak. Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era, from 1971 to 1973, when he was honorably discharged. Upon returning home, he attended and graduated from Merrimack College.
Larry was employed for over 40 years as an engineer at the former Harris Corp. in Melbourne, FL. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt, MD, on the GOES Weather Satellite Program for NOAA.
Larry will be remembered as kind, generous, patient, and humorous. He always had a project in progress, and could build anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially in his role as "Papa" with his grandchildren – family was Larry's everything. We will think of him when we see Satellite weather, lady bugs, or hear his favorite song, "What A Wonderful World."

Larry's family will be celebrating his life privately. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
