Larry Ross Ingels, age 77, died peacefully at his home in West Shawnee on November 7, 2024. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 15th, 2024, from 5-7 pm, at Harrington Family Event Center at 218 Oak St. in Bonner Springs, KS.
Larry was born December 5, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert E. and Frances (Faerber) Ingels. He was a 1965 graduate of Argentine High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1965 as a Helicopter Crew Chief, in Vietnam, until his honorable discharge in 1968. He would go on to work as a conductor for Sant Fe Railroad for the next 33 years. Larry was a member of the United Transportation Union and American Legion Post #327.
From a young age, Larry was interested in fixing things. At 13, he disassembled and painted a motor-scooter numerous times, enduring the teasing of his brother-in-law, who named his scooter "Joseph's Coat of Many Colors." He eventually upgraded to a Harley Davidson and his prized 1969 Riviera. A "Jack of trades" from woodworking, electrical, mechanical, and repairman for family and friends. His many talents will be missed.
Larry married Susan Kay Glazner on June 7th, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas. From this union a son was born Jared.
His greatest joy in life was being a grandfather to his 3 grandsons Dylan, Sawyer, and Wyatt. He couldn't wait to get them dirty working on cars.
He is preceded in death by Susan his parents Robert and Frances. Survivors include son Jared Ingels and wife Jessica of Shawnee. Three grandsons Dylan, Sawyer, and Wyatt. Sister: Roberta Thompson and husband Paul of Cape Fair, Missouri, as well as several extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School in Shawnee.
