Larry Benton Johnson

Larry B. Johnson, 86, of Cabot, passed from this life on Monday, December 23, 2024 following a brief illness. He was a faithful servant to our Lord, and a life-long member of the church of Christ.
Larry was born on January 12, 1938 in Honey Grove, Texas. He graduated from Star City High School in 1955, and married the love of his life, Shelby Jean, in 1959. Larry retired from the United States Air Force in 1978 after serving more than 20 years and earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of Vietnam, and worked on a variety of aircraft including the F-86, B-52, KC-135, F-4, and C-130.
Larry is remembered mostly for his devotion to his family, and the ability to fix anything, grow the biggest tomatoes, and bring a smile to anyone's face.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shelby Jean (Moore) Johnson; his parents James Fred Johnson and Maude (Waters) Johnson; his brother James L. Johnson and sisters Obenetta Wice and Wanda Carter.
He is survived by his daughter Deborah Johnson, son John (Susan), and grandson Matthew.
The funeral will be at the Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in Star City on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Visitation is at 2 PM, with the service at 3 PM. Larry will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Yorktown, Arkansas in a private ceremony.
