Larry Dean Lane

LARRY DEAN LANE, 75, of the Prater section of Vansant, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Meredith Virgil and Fannie Mae (Owens) Lane. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Christian faith having been baptized in 1976. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a disabled coal miner. Larry loved and served God first and foremost, his family second, and hunting/fishing third.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Brothers: Michael Dennis Lane and Randy D. Lane; Sisters-in-Law: Teresa Lane and Mary Lane; Brother-in-Law: Larry Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55-years, Wanda Lou (Sheets) Lane of the home; Son: Craig Kevin (Melinda) Lane of Prater, VA; Daughters: Heather Renee (Jackie) Ray of Honaker, VA, Kristie Lynn Charles (Channing Compton) of Vansant, VA; Grandchildren: Hannah Faith (Evan) Rasnake, Christian Seth Lane, Chassidy Ilene Ray, Jacklynn Leann Ray, Austin (Hailey) Charles, Lauren Brooke Charles (Dalton Kersey) and Bryson Lane Charles; Great-Grandchildren: Ariah Christina Rasnake, Evelyn Leann Cromer, Hudson Dean Charles and baby Alexander Blayne Kersey on the way; Sisters: Brenda Johnson of Roanoke, VA; Brothers: Doug (Glenda) Lane of Haysi, VA, Jeff (Karen) Lane of Prater, VA; Sister-in-Law: Diane Lane.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for LARRY DEAN LANE will be conducted Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church with Jim Blankenship and others of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lane Family Cemetery at Cranesnest, Prater, VA with Rod Wicker officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be Christian Lane, Austin Charles, Bryson Charles, Evan Rasnake, Jackie Ray, Channing Compton and Dalton Kersey.
