Larry Laymon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin & Hightower Funeral Home - Carrollton on Nov. 23, 2024.
Larry Wayne Laymon, age 80, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. He was born June 5, 1944, in Richmond, Indiana, the son of the late Forrest and Mary Laymon.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he dedicated himself to his duties with unwavering honor and commitment. During his time in the Navy, he developed valuable skills and a strong sense of discipline that would guide him throughout his career.
After completing his service, Larry transitioned into the civilian workforce, spending most of his career as a printer. He honed his technical skills at W. R. Bean and Sons, gaining insights into the printing industry and developing a keen eye for detail. His hard work and expertise eventually led him to a position as a field service engineer at Web Printing Controls, where he installed and supported technology solutions for clients. After years of dedicated service in these roles, Larry eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and professionalism.
Larry had a deep love for the Lord and was an active member of his church family at Bethany Christian Church. His faith was the center of his life, with Jesus occupying the most significant place in his heart. Second only to his devotion to Christ was his love for his family, which he cherished deeply and prioritized above all else. Known as Mr. Fix-it among friends and relatives, Larry had a knack for repairing anything that needed attention and was always ready to lend a helping hand. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, finding joy and comfort in its melodies. Additionally, he was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves, often cheering them on during games. Larry's passions and commitments reflected a life rich in faith, family, and community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Elaine Laymon, and sisters, Barbara Clemons and Carol Colwell.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Laymon of Carrollton, Georgia, Jeffrey and Jeanine Laymon of Waleska, Georgia, and Gregory and Jamie Laymon of Peoria, Arizona; brother, Robert Laymon; grandchildren, Jared and Devin Laymon, David Laymon, Tyler and Kimberly Santos-Laymon, Elizabeth Laymon, and Andrew Laymon; four great-grandchildren, Broc Laymon, Kyler Santos, Kollins Santos, and Kayleanne Santos; four nieces and eight nephews.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 3:00 PM from Bethany Christian Church, with Minister John Latimer officiating. Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park, with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Laymon, Jeffrey Laymon, Gregory Laymon, Jared Laymon, David Laymon, Tyler Laymon, and Andrew Laymon.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Church, 2868 Carrollton-Villa Rica Highway, Carrollton, Georgia 30116.
