Larry Lennon "Yordie" Lewis

Larry Lennon "Yordie" Lewis, 66, of Zebulon, NC, passed away at his home on October 30, 2025. He was born June 18, 1959, in Wake County, to the late Charlie Toby Lewis and Rosebud Jeans Lewis.

Larry had a love for life and the outdoors. He played football at Bunn High School and carried that same team spirit throughout his life. He enjoyed boating, camping, horseback riding, NASCAR, and 4-wheeling. A talented guitarist, Larry once played in a local band and never lost his passion for music.

Known for his honesty and humor, Larry always spoke his mind-usually with a joke that would leave everyone laughing. He had a way of telling stories that could pull you right into the moment and usually leave you laughing by the end. Larry seemed to attract bad luck, but he had a gift for turning every mishap into a story that made everyone laugh. In recent years, he took up fishing, though his family joked that he was better at feeding the fish than catching them.

Larry had a big heart and a deep love for animals, children, and his family. He never lost his playful spirit and remained a big kid at heart.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Terri Sledge Mangrum-Lewis; son, Jason Lewis; daughter, Amanda Lewis Hamm (Christopher); step-children, David Panner and Nichole Miller; brother, Jerry "Lennie" Lewis (Judy), sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Williams (Bunny); and grandchildren, Parker Lewis, Fox Lewis, Trevor Yarborough, Bella Hamm, and Reed Hamm. He is preceded in death by his brothers, David Carlyle and Tim Lewis, and his sister, Patricia Brown.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Rocky Cross Holiness Church, 12524 Anderson Rd, Zebulon, NC 27597. Interment will follow at the Bunn Alford Upchurch Cemetery.
