Larry Willard Peterson (January 29, 1937 – September 25, 2025)

Linda Peterson (May 4, 1944 – September 29, 2025)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Willard Peterson and his beloved wife, Linda Peterson, both of East Garland, Utah. Larry passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Just four days later, Linda followed on September 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Their passing, just days apart, is a tender reflection of the deep love and unity they shared throughout their lives.

Larry was born on January 29, 1937, in East Garland, Utah, to Fred Willard Peterson and Bernice Smith Peterson. He attended Garland Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, embodying the values of duty and service that defined his life. Larry worked many years with the UKON Water Company, helping develop the culinary water systems in East Garland and Fielding. He also worked at Thiokol in the Roads & Grounds department and retired in the 90’s. A man of many skills, he had a lifelong passion for cars and even built one with his brother, Jerry. It was while cruising the streets of Garland that Larry met a sweet girl named Linda—the beginning of their lifelong love story.

Larry and Linda were married on November 1, 1963, and later sealed in the Logan Temple on April 1, 1966. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Larry was a devoted father, a talented woodworker, and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, including in the bishopric, where he led with humility and care. He loved tending his garden, camping with family, and creating beautiful woodwork pieces that remain treasured heirlooms.

Linda was born on May 4, 1944, in Brigham City, Utah, to Preston Engvar Petersen and Cleone Steed Petersen. She attended Thatcher Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School. After marrying Larry, she dedicated herself fully to her family, becoming the heart of the home. Linda was a remarkable homemaker who loved cooking, sewing, and caring for others. She was an exquisite crocheter and gifted countless handmade blankets and keepsakes to family and friends. Known for her taffy-making and her quiet, steady service, Linda blessed everyone around her with her warmth and creativity. She also enjoyed coaching Powder Puff softball. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda served faithfully in many callings, especially in Primary and Mutual, where she nurtured and uplifted the youth.

Together, Larry and Linda lovingly raised four children: Danny, Alicia, Cindy, and Jamie. Their East Garland home was a haven of love, faith, and belonging—a place where all felt welcome.

They are preceded in death by their parents, siblings, and other dear family members who no doubt joyfully welcomed them in their heavenly reunion. They are survived by their children Danny (Pam), Alicia, Cindy, and Jamie (Traci); ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with one more expected in April; and many extended family members and dear friends.

We will always remember Larry for his woodworking—his hands shaped more than wood; they built a legacy. We will always remember Linda for her crocheting and taffy making—her stitches and sweets bound generations together in love.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 10th from 6-8 P.M. at the Fielding Stake Center. The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 11th at 11 a.m. the Fielding Stake Center with a viewing prior from 9-10:30 A.M., followed by interment at the East Garland Cemetery.

“They are no longer where they were, but they are everywhere we are.”

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of ComForCare, CNS Hospice, and Maple Springs Memory Care for their compassionate care and support during Larry and Linda’s final days.
