David Troseth Obituary

Visit the Lindquist Mortuary- Bountiful website to view the full obituary.

David “Dave” Arthur Troseth was born in Preston, Idaho to Odvar Arthur Troseth and Etta Hulse Troseth on December 29, 1939. Dave was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer at the beginning of September and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 23, 2025 in Bountiful, Utah.

Dave’s early years were spent on a 95-acre farm in Cornish, Utah. As a young boy, Dave devoted many hours to riding his favorite horse, Gypsy, and became accustomed to working the long, hard hours required to run the farm.

The family later relocated to Bear River City and ran a mink ranch. There, he attended and graduated from Bear River High School. He was involved in football, track, band, and the Future Farmers of America Association.

Dave’s golfing buddy, Bob Travis, introduced him to his daughter Pat, whom Dave noticed hitting balls on the golf range. The pair were married on February 3rd, 1967 in Brigham City, Utah. They had two daughters, Teresa and Shelley, and moved their family to their home on Charlene Drive in Bountiful, Utah.

Dave spent the majority of his career working for the Thiokol Corporation, a company that developed a chemical propellant utilized in aerospace rockets. He began in a clerical position and worked his way up into the new area of information and computer systems. For a period of time, he also was the manager of information systems at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. He retired in 1996.

In 1963, Dave joined the Elks. He served in several local and national leadership positions including Exalted Ruler of BPOE 2442, State President of the Utah Elks Association, and District Deputy of the National Elks Association. Up until recently, he still attended the bi-annual meetings in St. George, Utah.

Dave and Pat had University of Utah football season tickets for several years and were members of the Crimson Club. Dave also loved (and loved to hate) the Utah Jazz and golf. Throughout their marriage, the two enjoyed many golf dates and took several vacations both as a couple, with friends, and with family.

He is survived in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, his daughter Shelley (Keith), son-in-law Greg, sister Kaaren (Wayne), brother Ted (Kaylene), sister-in-law Sherrie, grandchildren Zach (Sarah), Savannah (26), Abby (26), Lorelai (21), great grandchildren Jude (4) and Audrey (2), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Teresa, his parents, and his siblings Warren Keith, Allen Richard (Dick), and Norman.

Dave will be honored with an “Elk’s funeral” Saturday October 11, 2025 at 3:00 p.m, at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Bountiful Elks Lodge.
