Larry R. Luchies

Larry R. Luchies, age 78 of Fremont, passed away early Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at New Haven Assisted Living in Cedar Springs. He was born on December 10, 1946 in Fremont, Michigan to Harvey & Elizabeth "Tiz" (Tubergen) Luchies. After earning a business degree as a young man, Larry & his dad owned & operated Westwood Hardware in Fremont. Larry then spent most of his working life as a glazier in the glass business. He worked for Crown Glass in Fremont, and then owned & operated The Glass Place in Fremont. He enjoyed lake life, which included fishing and leisure boating. Larry was also a gun enthusiast, NASCAR fan, and automobile mechanic. His favorite car was his Shelby Cobra that he and his son Chuck built. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Nancy (Bradshaw) Luchies, and by his brother Dale Luchies. He is survived by 3 children: Dawn M. (Jeff) Merasco of Portage, MI, Heidi B. Luchies of Galesburg, MI, and Chuck H. Luchies; 8 grandchildren: Christian, Andrew, Caleb, & Kaitlyn Merasco, Tyler, Christpher, Keala, & Bethani Luchies; 1 brother, Glenn (Janet) Luchies; sister-in-law, Sherri Luchies; and by many nieces & nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Pat Smith. A Memorial Gathering will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 5-7 PM, followed by a brief Memorial Service starting at 7:00 PM.
