Larry Neal McCright, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on November 15, 1934, in Sheakleyville, Pennsylvania, to Evelyn (Hoobler) and Claude Leech McCright, Larry lived a life grounded in quiet strength, steady routine, and loyalty to those he loved. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, an experience he carried with pride throughout his life. Later, he worked at Sawhill Tubular in Wheatland for 43 years, retiring as a millwright.
Larry was married for 69 years to Janet McCright. They were wed in the Lutheran Church and built a life filled with love, commitment, and family. Together they raised three sons: Marc (Shirley), Michael (Debra), and Keith (Joy).
A longtime Boy Scout leader, Larry enjoyed being part of the organization and all it represented. One of the highlights of his time in Scouting was a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico-a memorable journey he took great pride in.
In his younger years, Larry was an avid drag racer. He spent many weekends at the track and loved the speed, the challenge, and the thrill of competition. He also enjoyed boating and was a skilled water skier-often combining it with family camping trips that created some of their favorite memories. Larry loved hunting and spending time outdoors-though later in life, he preferred simply watching the deer, turkeys, and birds that visited his yard.
He found joy in simple routines, especially his weekly breakfasts at the West Middlesex Diner with friends, a tradition he rarely missed.
Larry was the proud grandfather of Matthew & Amanda White, Tara (Josh) Mason, and Melissa (Robby) & Andrew (Jenna) McCright; and a great-grandfather to Olivia, Ava, Rozalyn, and Crew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Joanne (Robert) Nicodemus; and his brothers, Paul (Helen) McCright and Stanley (Carolyn) McCright. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister Janice (Richard) Nobbs, and extended family.
Larry and Janet shared many wonderful years traveling and making memories with close friends Mary Ellen and Jim Mullen and Bill and Laurel Carroll-friendships that brought laughter, love, and companionship through the decades.
Per Larry's wishes A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
