Larry Anthony Muhlbauer, son of Charles “Chas” and Ann (Schrad) Muhlbauer, was born on September 16, 1943, in Halbur, Iowa. He was one of seven sons. Larry attended St. Augustine Grade School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1961.
Larry was united in marriage with Carol Hansen on May 2, 1964. They raised three children on the farm near Manning.
Larry spent his livelihood working on the farm. He also worked at MJM and Hallett Materials. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as an eucharistic minister and usher. He served on the Aspinwall Co-op Board. Larry enjoyed collecting toy tractors and attending toy shows.
On October 21, 2024, Larry passed away at home at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his three children, Sherri Wagler (Tom Wittrock), Keith (Gina) Muhlbauer and Amy (Lucas) Borkowski; six grandchildren: Kristina (Jeremy) Lupardus, Anna (Colton) Neumann, Maria (David) Vetter, Austin (Samantha) Wagler, Alissa Wagler (Nate Overmann) and Jenna (Tyler) Lohrmann; and fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers: Norbert (Marlou), Eugene (Judy), Ronald, Jake, Richard (Jeannine) and Vernon (Chris), Eileen Muhlbauer; and other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Marvin and Irene (Hargens) Hansen; sister-in-law, Judy Muhlbauer; and brother-in-law Ronnie Hansen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and a rosary at 10:15 a.m., all at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Inurnment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manning. Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in his memory.
