Larry R. Norem

SHERBURN: A Celebration of Life Service for Larry R. Norem, 85. of Sherburn, Minnesota will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. There will be Military Honors outside of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn by the Thomas P. Saxton American Legion Post #356 and the Sherburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8261 of Sherburn. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, Minnesota.
Larry was called to his eternal rest on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Larry Robert Norem was born on April 25, 1939 to Selmer and Anna Mae (Nelson) Norem in Fairmont, Minnesota. He attended school until the 10th grade and later enlisted in the United States Marines where he served. He return from the service and drove truck for various business in the area. On December 18, 1965 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Detert at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Fairmont until 1968 when they moved to Sherburn. Larry was employed by the DOT, Minnesota Department of Transportation for 23 years. He also in retirement drove bus for Southwest Tours in Jackson, did lawn care in the Sherburn area, enjoyed playing cards, going on vacations and going to casino's, going to the Butterfield Thressing Bee and Farm Fest and most of all listening to music provided by Glenn Henriksen.
Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Randy Norem of Good Thunder, Minnesota, Kevin (Andrea) Norem of Burnsville, Minnesota; daughter, Lori (James) Kokoruda of Sherburn, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Sierra Skweres, Ean, Ivy, Ty Kokoruda and Ella Norem; great-grandchildren, Freya, Charles and Octavia; sisters, Ardis Coppack of California and Sharon Miller of Eninco, California; sister-in-law, Bernice Jensen of Estherville, Iowa; brother-in-law, Leo (Doris) Detert of rural Fairmont, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Mae Norem; wife, LaVonne on April 24, 2015, brothers-in-law; Keith Coppack and Glen Jensen, great-grandson, Trevor Palmer Jr. and other relatives.
