STRAUGHN- Larry K. Protsman, 89, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2026 at The Waters of New Castle. The son of the late Raymond N. and Violet Mae (Day) Protsman, Larry was born in Dublin, Indiana on May 18, 1936. He was raised in the Dublin community and graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City. Larry was a proud U.S. Army veteran and received his honorable discharge in 1960. He married the love of his life, the former Donna Jean Walters, at the Bentonville Christian Church on September 9, 1962. They had lived in Richmond for a short time until 1968 when they had their home built in Straughn and have lived there ever since. He enjoyed living in the community and was an active resident. He was a member and councilman of the Straughn Community Chapel, member and past president- Straughn Community Club, member and past president- Straughn Town Board and board member- South Henry Regional Sewage District. Larry retired from M.E.G. Corporation where he was Production Control Manager at Cambridge City and Plant Manager in Danville. In his leisure, Larry enjoyed wood working and time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include 2 children, Lori Protsman of Carmel and Chris (Angela) Protsman of Spiceland; 2 granddaughters, Kayla and Paige Protsman; 4 great grandchildren, Kian, Kingsley, Renley and Kambree. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Donna, at the time of her passing on June 21, 2015.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. at the Straughn Community Chapel on Wednesday January 28, 2026. Dave Branham will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family at Ebenezer Cemetery, Rush County, Lewisville, Indiana.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Straughn Community Chapel- P.O. Box 162/ Straughn, IN 47387.
