Mr. Larry David Ray, a beloved member of the Dawsonville, Georgia community, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 31, 2023. He was born on February 11, 1948, in Ellijay, Georgia. Larry led a simple, fulfilling life and a cherished family man.
Prior to his retirement, Larry loved his job at Hayes Bridge Middle School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Throughout his tenure, he made a profound impact on the lives of countless young people as well as the staff. Larry was a dedicated custodian.
He was a faithful member of the Concord Baptist Church in Fairmount, Georgia until declining health prevented him from travel. His involvement with the church allowed him to cultivate meaningful relationships within his congregation and provided him with endless joy. Larry's devotion to his Concord Baptist Church family was unwavering.
In his leisure time, Larry found solace in reading the Word of God. It brought him immense comfort and served as a source of inspiration throughout his life journey. His deep spirituality permeated every aspect of his being and radiated through his interactions with others.
He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind an extensive network of loved ones who will carry forward memories of warmth, kindness, and love. Larry is survived by his sons, Eddie Ray and wife Kaylene, Kevin Ray; Ken Ray and wife Brandi; sister, Linda Vickery; brothers Dwight Ray, Pete Ray and wife Faye, Charles Ray and wife Carole; grandchildren Kimber Mann, Christopher Ray, Kisha Bennett, Bryce Ray; great-grandchildren Keaton Ray, Lyla Ray, Zoe Ray, Jeremiah Mann, Kaylee Mann, Maice Bennett, Maddie Bennett along with neices, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edgar and Lillian Marie Adams Ray; sisters Dimple Chadwick and Sue Cobb; and brother Danny Ray. Each of them held a special place in Larry's heart, and his legacy will live on through their love and cherished memories.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Larry David Ray will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Concord Baptist Church located at 9414 Fairmount Highway SE, Fairmount, Georgia 30139. The service will commence at 1:00 PM, the family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the church. Pastor Randy Sutherland will officiate. Graveside service will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Mike Janow officiating. Pallbearers serving will include, Chris Ray, Ron Ray, Logan Medley, Matthew Walls, Easton Ray and Tanner Ray. Honorary pallbearers will include Grady Harper and Sonny Wright. Friends, family, and community members are warmly invited to attend this solemn occasion to honor Larry’s life and share stories of love and remembrance.
Larry David Ray was a remarkable individual who made an indelible impact on the lives he touched. His unwavering faith, and his love for his family were a testament to the kind-hearted and compassionate man that he was. While we mourn the loss of Larry, we take solace in knowing that he has forever left an imprint on our hearts. His memory will continue to inspire us to live each day with love, kindness, and a commitment to helping others.
