Larry Allen Reynolds, 78, of Harmony passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in the comfort of his home.

He was born on December 19, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina; the son of Reed and Irene Wade Reynolds.

Larry graduated from Summit High School, Summit NJ in 1965. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas University and his master's degree from Newark College of Engineering.

He was employed as a civil engineer designing building foundations in the New York Metropolitan area for 35 years. Inspired by his love of racing, he founded his business, Car Care Specialties in Lodi, NJ in 1989. Larry sold the business and moved to Harmony in 2019. He was employed as Harmony's Code Enforcement Officer from August 2023 until July 2025.

While a student at Kansas University, Larry became an expert in SLAR (Side-Looking Airborne Radar.) Upon graduation he was recruited by the United States Army to serve in Vietnam. After attending Officer Candidate School, he served as a Mission Commander with the 101st Airborne Division. Captain Reynolds flew 178 missions over Cambodia mapping the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

In high school, Larry won many street drag races with his "souped up" cars. Later he raced Porsches at tracks up and down the east coast from 1989 to 2015.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy Sayre Bergman, who he married on February 14, 2020. He and Nancy were best friends in high school. After graduation, they lost touch but reunited after 50 years when both were widowed. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Sr. Maria Louise Edwards, Alan (Melanie) Edwards Jr., Valerie (Harry Swart) Edwards, Heather (Ian) Rushforth and Elizabeth ( Zachary) Erbrecht. He leaves behind eight step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by a brother, Harold Reynolds, his wife Geraldine Schenk Edwards and a stepdaughter, Joanne (Robert) DeSanctis.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Hospice for the compassion and dedicated care they provided to Larry.
