Larry Rose Obituary

Larry Shane Rose, son of Elmer Edwin and Mary Alma (Grider) Rose, was born Oct.
1, 1951, in North Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, in
Bolivar, at the age of seventy-three years.

Larry met his college sweetheart Betsy, while studying journalism at the University of
Missouri in Columbia. On Jan. 5, 1983, Larry was united in marriage with Betsy Lynn
Bohannon in Raleigh, North Carolina. Together they had two daughters, Katie and Mary,
born in Portland and Medford, Oregon, respectively. Larry and Betsy lived together in
Lone Tree, Colorado for 25 years before moving to Bolivar, in 2023.

Larry was a devoted Christian. He attended and served faithfully at Cornerstone Baptist
Church in Lone Tree, Colorado, preparing dinners for new members and leading TNT
students at AWANA. Larry spent his Saturday mornings fellowshipping with his friends at
"Geezer Gatherings."

Larry was very proud of his Naval service, having served for six years in the United
States Navy. Larry loved to help veterans' families in his work at the VA.

Larry was known for his sense of humor; he always had one or two good jokes ready for
whoever walked through the door. He loved music; he would sing hymns first thing in the
morning, and would listen to music throughout the day. He knew the history behind all
his favorite songs. Larry was an avid radio and television connoisseur. Larry was a
wealth of knowledge and trivia, encouraging his daughters to "look it up" when
challenged.

Larry is survived by his wife, Betsy; two daughters, Katie Rose (Christopher) of Richland,
and Mary Smither (Greyson) of Bolivar; one sister, Marla Baldwin (Joe) of
Kansas City; five grandchildren, Hudson, Harper, Chip, Iris, and a granddaughter
on the way; several nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Those preceding Larry in death include his parents and two brothers, Roger and Mark.
