Frank Roeder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Homes - Vandalia on Mar. 5, 2026.
Frank Edward Roeder Jr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in March 2026 at the age of 87.

Born on March 23, 1938, Frank grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended Normandy High School. As a young man, he worked as a caddy at Bellerive Country Club-an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and sparked a lifelong love of golf. Through dedication and perseverance, he earned the prestigious Evans Scholarship and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri with a degree in Engineering.

Frank built a distinguished career with Schnucks Grocery Stores, serving as Vice President of Engineering for more than 30 years. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.

He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Priscilla, and together they created a life grounded in faith, family, and laughter. They raised two children and were later blessed with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought Frank tremendous pride and joy.

After many years in St. Louis, Frank and Priscilla retired to Vandalia, Illinois, where they cherished time with family and friends and remained active members of their United Methodist Church community.

After the loss of his beloved Priscilla, Frank carried her memory with him every day. Those who loved him find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with the only woman he ever loved. Frank is survived by his son, Ed Roeder and his wife Magda of Texas; his daughter, Angela Walker and her husband Chris of Wisconsin; along with five grandchildren (Barclay (Erin), Jake (Amanda), Calyn (Nate), Jamie (Matt), Anabel (Joseph)) and nine great-grandchildren (Averie, Daphne, Clara, Blake, Walker, Huxley, Miles, Baylor, Aria)

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp mind, deep love of golf, unwavering devotion to his family, and the steady kindness he showed to everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the generations who will continue to share his stories and reflect his generosity.

There will be no services held for Frank. He will be laid to rest in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium in Vandalia, IL. In lieu of flowers, anyone could donate to the Vandalia First United Methodist Church. Donations can be made in person, by mail to 127 N 4th St, Vandalia, IL 62471, or online using this link: https://secure.myvanco.com/L-Z5NT/campaign/C-12JBF Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL is in charge of arrangements.
