Larry S. Feasel of Avon, IN, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the age of 82. Larry was born on February 3, 1943 in Beech Grove, IN to William and Jean Feasel. Larry enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1961 at the age of 18. He was a distinguished Army veteran and served two tours in Vietnam. He was honored with multiple awards and medals for his service. Larry was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association and the esteemed Distinguished Flying Cross Association. Upon leaving active duty in the Army, Larry transitioned to the National Guard where he continued to proudly serve his country for several years. Larry graduated from Purdue University in 1974 with an associate’s degree in applied science aviation maintenance technology. In 1994, he graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a degree in business. Larry was a helicopter pilot for many years before retiring. Larry flew helicopters for Petroleum Helicopters International where he flew people onto and off of oil rigs in the Gulf, Public Service Indiana where he flew around Indiana monitoring power lines, as a Life Line helicopter pilot where he transported critically ill or injured patients to medical facilities, as well as various other pilot positions. Larry was a long-time member of Plainfield Christian Church and rarely missed a Sunday service. He had a love for woodworking and would spend hours in his garage making beautiful furniture and other various items. He also had a love for calligraphy and a passion for reading. Larry loved spending time with his family. He could often be found attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Feasel, his brother, Billy (Jeanne) Feasel and other family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Steve) Halpin; son, Ryan (Kristi) Feasel; sister, Pam (Tim) McWilliams; grandchildren, Jordan Rosner, Londyn Feasel, Madeline Halpin, Delaney Halpin, Carter Feasel and Cameron Halpin; great-grandson, Rhett Mohr. A private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date, allowing close family and friends to gather and honor Larry’s memory in a personal and meaningful way.
