Larry Shaffer Obituary
He was born on September 28, 1942, in Massillon, Ohio. Raised by the late Clarence G. and Beryl J. Shaffer. He graduated from Salem High School in 1961. A couple of years after graduating, he married Kathryn L. Kleon. Together, they had created a beautiful family and shared a lifelong friendship. They shared many tender and unforgettable memories over their 62 years of marriage.
Larry was known in the community for his ownership of Salem Autorama. He owned and operated the car dealership for nearly 50 years.
Larry belonged to First Christian Church in Salem, Ohio, for many years and was a CYF Leader. He was a big fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Browns. He was also a member of the Elks and the Jaycees.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Kathryn L. Shaffer; his children, Scott and Darla, Mike and Tara, LeAnn and Bob; grandchildren, Alison and Jason, Dan and Esther, Maggie and Channing, Rachel and Ethan, Ben and Sydney, Brett and Hannah, Justin and Laura, Arah and Will, Tristan, Seneca, and Gabriel; and 11 great-grandchildren, Bella, Eliza, Charlee, Owen, Alivia, Eli, Emma, Clara, Alexander, Jordan, and Lilly. He also leaves behind a sister, Rhonda Shaffer
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dan Shaffer, and his brother, Gregory Shaffer.
Calling hours for Larry will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home located at 1014 E State St, Salem, OH. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation, commencing at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
