Larry Edward Ulmen

Larry Edward Ulmen, age 71, of North Mankato, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. Celebration of Life to follow at the Wow! Zone, Mankato from 6:30-9p.m. 

Larry was born on May 1, 1952 in Mankato. He was a fiercely loyal and dependable individual who was always willing to help friends and family. He took pride in protecting and taking care of his family. And while he was the quiet type, he was always ready with a one-liner and found great joy spending time with beloved friends through bowling and golf leagues, Big Dog, and the Wow! Zone (where he took pride working as a bookkeeper and floor manager). Larry graduated from Loyola High School where he excelled at baseball. He graduated in 1970. On September 20, 1980, he married his wife, Laurie Kersten-Ulmen. 

Larry is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Laurie Kersten-Ulmen; children, Matthew Paul Ulmen, JoAnna “JoJo” (Sam) Barthell, Kara (Justin Berdan) Ulmen; grandchildren, Alana, Emery, and Olive Barthell; siblings, Cindy (Al) Paulson, Becky Ulmen, as well as extended family and friends. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Donna Ulmen; brother, Ron Ulmen; aunts, Mary Haley, and Sister, Evelyn Ulmen.
