Larry Dwayne Upchurch “ Denny ”, 56, passed away on October 5th, 2025, in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Born on April 8th, 1969, Larry was the beloved son of Shirley Ann Upchurch (“Mama Sweetie”) and the late Robert Keith Upchurch (“Bobby”). Larry was a free spirit with a heart full of compassion. He had a special place in his heart for the homeless and dedicated much of his time to helping anyone in need. His kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Larry is survived by his loving mother, Shirley Upchurch, and his devoted fiancée, Jennifer Patrick. He was a proud father to Megan Smith (Ryan), Kayln Goldman (Michael Jr.), Victoria Leonard (Josh), Skyler Broyles “Hopie” (Janson), Tyler Upchurch “Austin” (Katelyn), Brittany Smith (Chris) and his fur babies Sasha, Tank, and Smitty. He was also a cherished grandfather to 18 grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Larry is also survived by his siblings: brothers Randy Upchurch and Martin Upchurch, and sister Sandra Hunt. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Keith Upchurch, and his brother, Robert Heath Upchurch.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Sweet Old Bills, 1232 North Main Street, High Point, North Carolina from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025. In honor of his giving spirit, the family asks that donations be made to your local homeless shelter in his memory.

Larry will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his big heart, generous soul, and the love he shared with his family, dogs and community.
