A funeral service with full military honors for First SGT Larry T. Welch (Retired), 75, of Jacksonville, will be held at noon on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at K.L Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Jacksonville. His son, Reverend Lonnie Welch, and Reverend Lonnie Self will officiate. Burial will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Welch passed away Friday at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham.
Mr. Welch was born in Mississippi on March 4, 1949 to the late Lonnie and Minnie Welch. He was a retired US Army veteran with 20 years of service. He loved his Lord and family and he gave freely and shared God's word often. He was also an avid fisherman and turkey hunter.
Mr. Welch is preceded in death by his sisters, Francis Beatrice Welch and Lois Cantrell; and brothers, Howard Welch, Marlin Welch, and Gaines Welch. He is survived by his children, Jamie Cummings and her husband, Herbert, and Lonnie Welch and his wife, Deneen; grandchildren, Sara Welch, Bethany Welch, Rhiana Welch, and Lena Cummings; great-grandson, Aiden Noblitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Welch, Herbie Cummings, Lester Welch, Scott Shofner, Marvin Welch, and Russell Shaneyfelt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Falcon Ministries, 23 Grandview Drive, Glencoe, AL 35905.
