Memorial service for Mr. Larry Howard Wells, age 75 of Glencoe will be held 2pm Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the 1st Baptist Church of Glencoe with Phillip Elliott and Donny Yarbrough officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until time of service.
Larry passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sarah Wells; sister, Vicki Wells; brother, Tommy Wells.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer Wells; sons, Jonathan (Leslie) Wells, Kevin Wells, and Joshua (Emily) Wells; grandchildren, Carter and Jack Wells, Kyndal (Tyler) Elliott, Courtney (Corey) Jarrells, Ryleigh Wells, and Madelyn Wells; great-grandchildren. Emilia, Beau Elliott, and Cecilia Jarrells; sister, Dianna Harris; brother, Barry (Sherre) Wells; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wells was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Glencoe. He was The Active Post Commander VFW 10408. He served with Carpenters for Christ and was associated with the Etowah Baptist Disaster Relief. Larry graduated from Glencoe High School in 1968 then joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam. He retired from the United States Army National Guard as Sergeant 1st class and a master gunner. He drove the school bus for the Glencoe school system and for the Etowah County Board of Education; where he would always drive the band to games and competitions. He also drove the bus for the Gadsden State Cardinal Athletic Department. Larry was always working and stayed on the go; he will be so deeply missed.
