Larry Wilder was born on November 25, 1935, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Marie Wilder (Nemechek). He passed away on August 10, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Larry led a full and vibrant life, characterized by hard work and dedication. He dedicated over 30 years to his career as a Postal Letter Carrier and spent more than 45 years as an umpire and referee for baseball, basketball, and football. Later in life, he became a successful property owner, managing up to 15 single-family rental homes.
As a devoted father, Larry coached his son's football and baseball teams. He had a deep passion for cars, at one point owning as many as six, and enjoyed attending auctions. While he was once an avid runner, he later transitioned to walking as he grew older. Larry also had a keen interest in collecting antiques, coins, and stamps.
In his earlier years, Larry operated a lawn care business and sold items at flea markets. He was well-known for his sense of humor and loved to make others laugh.
Larry was married twice, first to Patricia Wilder and later to Lois Jean Ross, but he spent the last thirty years of his life as a single man.
He is survived by his son Michael, daughter Jennifer, and grandsons Dustin and Dakota Phillip. He was preceded in death by his son Mitch. Larry also leaves behind his stepchildren Cliff, Donna, and Dianna, and played a significant role in raising Dianna’s children, Kristina and Amanda.
Larry lived his life with enthusiasm and took great pride in all that he accomplished.
