Tonjia was born in Los Angeles CA on July 24,1966 to the late Elsie Lee Atkins and George Keaton. Latonjia attended Los Angeles County schools before moving to Woodbine, Ga in 1984, where she married Henry "Leon" Gibbs, who preceded her in death. She held many jobs in her life but made lifelong friends in her role at Holiday Inn in Kingsland as a housekeeping supervisor and in her years with the Camden County school system as a beloved custodian for the 9th grade center.

Latonjia was also preceded in death by her parents Elsie (Leevern) Smith and George Keaton; her brothers, Kevin (Christine), Ricky and George "Peanut" Keaton.

She is survived by her life partner, Steven Smalls; her legacy will live on through her girls, Brittney Massey-Keaton (Tamara), Leonia Gibbs-Rudolph (Robert), Kalieya Smalls, Naja Streater and Sherita Singelton-Miller. Being a grandmother was her favorite title. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Caleb Keaton, Najee Brown, Arryonia Frazier, Chrissyonia Rudolph and Brion Rudolph. As well as her great grandchildren Carsyn Elijah, Cali Elana, Camryn Elliana Keaton and Nasai Brown; her godchildren, Deneshio Byrd and Shenell Shaw-Davis; her siblings, Gary (Carmel) Capers, Minnie Solomon, Rochon Keaton, Arnetta (Kitten) Keaton, Olivet Keaton and Carrie Smith. She was Auntie Tonjia to all her beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a host of friends and loved ones to cherish her memory.

A celebration of her life is being planned for her birthday in late July with more details to follow.
