LaTonya Faye Copeland Poole born to the late Sammie Lee Copeland of Providence, KY. and Claudette Thomas Nunn of St. Louis, Mo., went home to be with the Lord July 21. 2022 at 2:25 am at Ascension Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by love, laughter, and family.
LaTonya was born July 23, 1965, in Evansville, IN. she attended Reitz Memorial High School but later graduated from CAPE. At a very early age. LaTonya accepted Christ here at Greater St. James, under the ordinance of Rev. Douglas F. Smith. She loved to sing, she soon joined the choir and became a professional choir director, I mean she could direct Kirk Franklins' choir, if you knew, you knew. Latonya never met a stranger! Always willing to open the house give the clothes off her "children's" back (insider). She would cook for any and everybody. She loved family and would host all the family gatherings and cookouts, she would get us put out of any restaurant in Evansville by starting a food fight. She was her grandchildren's #1 fan. She had 20 grandkids and two great grandkids and loved them all the same.
LaTonya married Rev. Eric Poole on February 12, 2005 and shared many years of happiness.
LaTonya was well known and respected in the community. In her younger days she ran the Oakdale recreation center. Later she became the Vice president of the residence's council at Kennedy Towers. She would have different activities for the residents, such as Sunday dinner and decorate the entire building for every holiday. Tonya Has a host of jobs including a payroll representative at WNIN, Casino Aztar and McCurdy Nursing Home, just to name a few. Over the years she picked up her duties in the house of the Lord. helping in any way possible. Her last big project was in unity concert. Mom worked hard on this event, and we were so proud of her. We are going to miss her dearly and the many roles she played in our lives.
Latonya is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Claudette, mother-in-law, Janette Poole. Brothers, Anthony Robinson, and Darryl Foster, last, but not least her baby boy; Ian Bavone whom she missed so much.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving husband on 22 years, Rev. Eric Poole, daughters, Brandi Jones(Tracy Nelson), LaToria Jones Cadet( Selmo Sr.), Misse' Copeland Mockobee (Johnathan), son, John Thomas, stepdaughter, Nicoya Poole, stepmother Carolyn Copeland, in laws, Geola Poindexter, Dr. Rev.
